Well after the Christmas/new years lay off from competition,
the break was absolutely necessary in order to get the car and
the team back to full strength.
Following
the Jamaica trip the car was in need of some TLC, and Dave
Crawford & Brian Jones from McEnearney Quality put in
considerable effort to get the mechanical side of things right,
and then it went over to the collision repair center @ McEnearney
to have the various encounters with the Jamaican scenery such
as sugar cane, orange tree's and water splashes that took
their toll on the body work.
However with all their hard work done, I am pleased to say
that I was able to do justice to their effort by having a
good day @ Cherry Tree Hill and not taxing the support team
beyond routine fuel and tyre issues, except for brief fuel
pump problems in the official practice run that Dave &
Adrian Bannister were able to eliminate before the start of
the 1st official run & I had clean trouble free run without
any problems achieving a 1m 26sec, and on the 2nd run dropped
the time to a 1m 25sec low with two untidy landings on the
consecutive jumps.
So
the 3rd run was fast approaching with little time to attend
to any problems as the officials were trying to get finished
by the dead line set earlier in the day due to a function
being held along the course, however I new that if I cleaned
up the two jumps and the section down the through all those
very imposing tree's @ Nicholas Abbey the rest of the course
to the finish line would flow without problems, and I was
able to do just that, reducing the time again by a little
bit to a 1m 24sec and no damage to the car.
Congratulations to all the organizers, time keepers, and
marshals for a well run event, and to all spectators for adhering
to the directions of the marshals whom we depend upon have
everything perfect in order that we attack these courses with
total confidence that all is safe as possible.
All the very best
Roger
