Team Report: Jonathan Still / Heath Hazell |
|
I
got off to a very slow start, not even coming close to being
very competitive on the first stage. I was seriously hampered
by nerves. Yes I was a very nervous fellow on Sunday. After
mischanging over and over I realised that we had a problem with
the box not wanting to select 3rd gear easily. As it turns out
there is was problem and it is being rectified. From SS2 onwards
the day just got better and better. We had a few moments like
in French Village were I slid a little too broad and hit the
birm at the T junction to Orange Hill. It sounded really loud
but as we continued there were no handling problems so I finished
the stage loosing little time. It all went pretty much like
clockwork from there putting in the occasional gas and checking
the car. Besides mischanging all rally long I was able to become
more comfortable with the car. It is quite a hand full and I
am trying my best to get use to the animal. I have tons to learn
about this car and this is what it is all about. The Stages
were all amazing and some were technical like Dark Hole. This
I would say was my favourite stage. All in all I enjoyed the
rally and I look forward to the next one. If I had any complaints
it would be that the rally ended too soon. I felt like I could
drive a good few more stages. I believe my navigator Heath Hazell
and my road crew Malik and Sam were very happy with our 7th
place result. I sure am happy to be in a rear wheel drive again
and still don't know why I left in the first place. I believe
the BMW is a great car to drive.
I really want to thank my Sponsors: Nescafe, Philips Lighting
& Castrol. Without the amazing support from these sponsors
this year it would not be possible. |
