We at The Checkered Flag Car Shop are proud to announce that during our attendance at Spring Break Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida on March 22-24, 2002 our team of Ian Inniss and Charles Goddard, created shock waves throughout Florida with their results. Charles Goddard who competed in the Tuner Jam (Customised Competition), placed Fourth and was penalised heavily for not having an elaborate Stereo System in his car. We were never told that this was going to be part of the judging criteria and as a result, he was penalised 20 points.

It is very interesting to note that the First placed winner only beat him by 10 points, which meant that if he did have the stereo, we would have gained first place in this event. At the end of the event, the Chief Judge confirmed this.

Ian Inniss of STREET VIBES fame, placed Third in the Tuner Jam and if this was not enough for us to be proud about, he came back the following day and competed in the USAC Consumer 301+ Sound Quality Competition and captured FIRST PLACE for Barbados. This achievement created history, since no competitor has ever won an event from the English Speaking Caribbean at any type of Car Show in the USA!

The steps taken by these two gentlemen should be recorded in our history books so that our future generation would know what the true meaning of "It is not what your country can do for you, it is what you can do for your country", really is. In their case, they made not only Barbados but the entire Caribbean proud. Both competitors have now qualified automatically for World Championships and it is hoped that the necessary sponsorship could be obtained to make this possible.

In closing, we would like to thank Sedrick Haynes of Banks Breweries who made the National Customised and Sound Off Championships possible and Shone Gibbs of Tropical Shipping, who sponsored the freighting of the cars to Daytona Beach and who never lost faith in me for making this giant step to compete internationally amongst the best in the USA, with total confidence.

On behalf of The Checkered Flag Car Shop, Tropical Shipping and Banks Breweries, we would like to invite all Bajans who are proud of the achievements made by Ian and Charles, to join us in celebration at Silver Rock from Noon on Monday April 1, 2002. Proud to be 100% Bajan!
