We at the Checkered Flag Car Shop are proud to announce that
Ian "Street Vibes" Inniss made an impressive debut
at the IASCA (International Auto Sound Challenge Association)
World Finals which were held in Charlotte, North Carolina
on October 19-20, 2002.
For
the first time, the organisers of the event included a "Glow
Off" Competition which was sponsored by STREET GLOW and
it attracted approximately 25 cars. Our very own Ian "Street
Vibes" Inniss smoked the competition and won the prize
for THE BEST EXTERIOR and more importantly, THE BEST CAR ON
SHOW.
Ian also competed in the Sound Quality segment of the Sound
Off Competition and due to the protests from some competitors,
he was moved from the Amateur Class which he has always competed
in, to the Professional Class, which by the way, was the biggest
and most competitive class at the event, simply because the
other competitors felt that as an installer, that is where
he should compete. Unfortunately, the Chief Judge ruled and
agreed with the competitors so Ian was thrown to the wolves,
a pack of 23 to be exact, and competed against fully sponsored
cars, which were tuned by lap top computers!
Street Vibes
As the day of judging progressed, we kept faith and presented
the best possible 100% Bajan Product to the judges, who by
the way, could not believe that the tiny island of Barbados
could produce such a wicked piece of machinery, which was
tuned by ear! The end result is now history. Our very own
Ian "Street Vibes" Inniss is now ranked No.7 in
the WORLD, in his class. Yes that's right, we have finally
made an impression on the WORLD! Ian defeated cars that were
fully sponsored and competitors who have been at this game
for over 5 years and who have never been able to make it into
the TOP 10 World Rankings. It is also interesting to note
that the 6th, 7th and 8th placed competitors all had the same
points but were separated by their scores from their overall
presentation.
Although still in shock at his results, Ian is patiently
awaiting the return of his car on Wednesday (Oct 30) and hopes
to be able to make some necessary adjustments to his system
in order to get it ready for the USAC,(United States Auto
Sound Competition), World Finals in Kansas City on November
23-24, 2002.
Unfortunately, there are no funds available to make it to
this event so far, so we are making a National Plea to all
Bajans who would like to see Ian bring home Gold, to send
in financial contributions to The Checkered Flag Car Shop
or to Ian himself. Ian will be having a Celebration Lime at
The Checkered Flag Car Shop on November 2, 2002 at 6.00 PM,
so please come out and support our Champion.
Congratulations can be emailed to Ian at yellowdash@yahoo.com.
