Location: Caymanas Golf Club |

Caymanas
Golf club was the venue for the Rally's prize giving ceremony.
We arrived early finding an "empty" gravel car park. You know
what that meant! Jeffery Panton was the first to arrive in his
Celica GT-Four and was cordially directed to give the crowd
a little something. Without hesitation, he delightfully spun
the Celica in the gravel for the crowd. None other than Roger
"Windmill" Skeete shortly followed. Skeete needed no instructions
on what had to be done. We in Barbados already know what the
Sheriff is capable of. He had already fed the crowd some donuts
at one of the earlier stages. He revved up the Ford Escort Cosworth
and with the tip of the hand brake initiated some awesome donuts.
Think
that was the end? Rolling in behind him was the red Celica of
Roger Hill. The crowd stopped him, as they demanded him to "do
something". I was privilege to witness Roger Hill do donuts
in the Celica for his first time. He left that place dusty as
he showed the crowd he knows how to do it. I hope Roger knows
that if he can do donuts for the Jamaicans, he is expected to
give us Bajans at home a little something too. |

At
the presentation, people were still talking about Trevor "Micey"
Manning, seen here (in the black shirt) in high spirits with
Roger Hill. One fan told me, "You see de mon Micey from Barbados.
De man have big balls mon. Big balls." I also heard another
fan saying, "when de man come by de ninety, im give we de
lights, scandi and gone. Me nuh hear nuh pop pop from de antilag.
De man was just flat out!"
Although he had a slew of misfortunes throughout the rally,
Trevor had a great time. I asked him how he felt about the
rally to which he replied, "I didn't win the rally, but I
won the crowd." He further went on to talk about one of his
crowd-pleasing moments. "There was this corner were we had
to go over a bridge with no sides and then though a gate.
The road was really narrow," Trevor indicated. "But if you
look at it really good, its really a hairpin. Man I went over
de bridge and though de gate sideways, de back wheels on one
edge and front on de other. When I look in de rear view mirror,
I see Jamaicans running and jumping all over de road. It was
fantastic."

Roger
Hill, the highest placing Barbadian, finished 3rd overall. The
Jamaicans thanked the Bajans for leaving their trophy in Jamaica.
They further went on to suggest that when the Jamaican Invasion
comes to Barbados for our All Stage rally, that they would be
taking back our Trophy. Roger Hill was quick to let them know
that the Jamaicans can't win our Texaco All Stage rally and
to "put that in your pipe and smoke it." The Jamaican's reply
was "we have better things down here to smoke." |
