Day
One
First corner of first stage (150 yds from start line) destroyed
the right side inboard joint. Got shaft changed and re-joined
the rally (this was on an un-official basis with the blessing
of the officials-we did not travel that far just to spectate).
Car started missing on this stage. Next stage was running
on three cylinders with oil blowing out of oil cover. Suspected
ring/piston problem. Tried one more stage. Could not see for
the smoke 1/2 mile from the start with the windows up. Not
much better with the windows down. Finished the stage in a
trail of blue smoke. Retired.

Day One Night
Removed head and sump. #4 piston damaged and the rings
from this piston distributed randomly throughout the
engine. Cleaned everything up and rebuilt using low
compression piston from Daewoo Espero. Could not get
Crankshaft pulley off to time correctly so had to guess.
Finished at 5:30 am. Shower and change and off to re-start
at 6:30 am.
Day two
Had a ball. Won the class and finished fastest 2WD for
second day.

Again,
we could not have done this without the support of the Jamaicans
and specifically Chris McFarlane and the crew at Island Motors
(yes, their parts department were open at 3:30 am) Richard
Stewart from the Suzuki camp for the 50 mile tow back to the
garage, and Earl and Andy for their assistance throughout.
GREAT JOB GUYS AND THANKS AGAIN
